There are numerous studios around you that offer ballroom dance classes. It’s important to pick a good studio because the instructors and the environment of the studio will ensure that the students remain motivated and achieve their dance goals. But how do you know which is the right studio to choose? Here are a few tips that you can use so that you make the right choice when it comes to selecting a dance studio.
You need to select a studio that is either close to your house, your workplace, or it is on the way to your office. This is important because you will lose interest if you have to travel large distances just to spend a few hours learning ballroom dancing. Even if you are motivated to go the distance, it isn’t a viable long-term option.
Before signing up for dance classes in a studio, take time to observe the studio. How is the lighting of the studio? Is it too dark or does it have the right amount of light? Light is important as you will be able to see the instructor and your movement clearly. Check the floor of the studio. Bad/uneven flooring will add extra stress on your legs, joints, and knees. You can also injure yourself if you fall down on a bad floor. Is the music system loud enough that you can hear the music throughout the studio? Music is important in ballroom dancing and you don’t want to be taking dance classes when you can barely hear the music.
It’s important that you ask whether the instructor is qualified or how long the instructor has been dancing. It’s not necessary that a highly qualified teacher will be a good teacher. Ask whether you can observe them taking a class so that you can gauge how good the instructor is with other students and whether they help their students by helping them grow and explaining concepts/moves.
Not all studios offer various levels of ballroom dance. Some studios offer only advanced courses whereas others offer beginner courses or a combination of both. You need to understand what your need is and how much of training you require. You don’t want to go for advanced classes when you have just started out with ballroom dancing. You also don’t want to go for beginner classes when you are at a higher level as it can bore you.
Lastly, you need to know whether the students are happy with the studio. Ask the students about how the instructor takes classes so that you can form a better opinion whether you want to go to this studio or not. If you don’t get satisfactory answers, go online to see if the studio has any reviews.
By following these simple tips, you will be able to choose a studio that is right for you.
